My name is Sophie Froment, and this is the story about how I got started in modeling, and about where the road has led and continues to lead.
I was surfing the internet one day for some modeling agencies and modeling job, being all naive, and I came across Model and talent search. So I applied and they accepted me to participate to the convention, which was talking place in Las Vegas. I am certainly happy of my experience but this is the kind of rip off that you can easily fall into. They make you pay a whole lot of money to participate to an event where they say a lot of agents will be there and will scout you, and of course being young I fell for it. So next thing you know, I was on the plane on my way to Vegas, 16 years of age (with my dad of course), spending time learning how to walk and competing among a few hundred other people who had gotten involved in the same rip off money making machine as me! But I definitely had a blast while out there, and auditioning for talent as well, I got a call back from 20th century fox, but that never lead anywhere, since I was still in high school and not ready to make the next step.
While in Las Vegas I got offered a part two be in R Kelly’s video shoot taking place at the hotel where I was staying but that offer was sure revoked when they found out I was only 16 years old! Too bad for me, would have been a great opportunity, especially counting the fact that I didn’t look like a 16 year old girl at all. While in Las Vegas, I wasn't old enough to gamble at casinos, so I focused on getting scouted by two agencies, one from Boston, and the other one from Beverly Hills, but again, that went nowhere, I suppose I was too young to enter the business world. I realized never go to these types of convention, if you really are talented, you can go up to an agency and work it out with them without having to pay a dime, ratherthan paying a few thousand dollars for a convention where you will soon realize, by looking at the people surrounding you, are just money sucking scammers.
On a more personal note, this experience kind of gave me taste of what I wanted out of life, you know. So I came back home, went back to my routine, continued school, then visited a local agency. They were charging crazy amount of money, and really didn’t take the time to take care of their talent roster. So, I just lost interest in them and then again, went on with my high school, and teenage life.
